Contrary to what many people believe, de-clawing a cat does not mean just removing the claw. It involves amputating the first joint of the cat's toe, and is excruciating. Approximately 50% of cats that are subjected to this procedure suffer complications, and often, de-clawed cats become biters, or refuse to use the litter-box. De-clawing is illegal or banned in many countries. It is considered animal abuse. |
